Exhibitions

Cyril Schirmbeck’s Works are continually on display in group and solo exhibitions. Here, you can find a selection of exhibitions that Cyril has personally curated together with the Galleries.

Receding Worlds

In his solo exhibition ‘Receding Worlds’ at Kühlhaus Berlin, Cyril Schirmbeck explores the natural landscapes under threat by ever-increasing human expansion.

These landscapes are a vital part of the fragile equilibrium that enables life on our planet as we know it. The artworks draw attention to the powerful beauty but also the inherent fragility of the vast glacial landscapes of the North.

20% of the proceeds were donated to Humane Society International.

STERN –
Frédéric Barzilay has been photographing women since his youth. Now, the french avant-garde is being rediscovered in Frankfurt. His pictures are juxtaposed with photographes by the painter and illustrator Karl Bohrmann, as well as new works by the contemporary photographer Cyril Schirmbeck.”

Le Désert Rouge

“THE PHOTOGRAPHER CYRIL SCHIRMBECK SPENT MOST OF HIS YOUTH IN MOROCCO. IN 2011 AND 2012 HE TRAVELED THROUGH THE SOUTH OF THE COUNTRY AGAIN: THE AREA BEHIND THE ATLAS MOUNTAINS, BETWEEN THE ATLANTIC OCEAN AND THE SAHARA, WHERE THE DESERT TURNS RED. THE PHOTOGRAPHS SHOW THE MAGNIFICENT LANDSCAPES OF THIS ALMOST FORGOTTEN REGION IN ITS SPECTACULAR VASTNESS AND SOMETIMES SURREAL EMPTINESS (SERIES "LUNAIRE"). THEY ARE COMPLEMENTED BY PORTRAITS OF THE PEOPLE LIVING THERE, WHOSE EVERYDAY LIFE HAS REMAINED LARGELY UNCHANGED OVER THE PAST CENTURIES.”
